I was asked to customise a pair of Adidas superstars. I worked in collaboration with master embroiders Hawthorne Heaney to re-imagine one of my earlier works; The Constant Need for Approval - this time made entirely from shoelaces. There’s a nod to Run DMC in there too as I didn’t feel I could do anything with this particular pair of kicks without showing some respect to the cultural heritage.
